Location & Facilities
Hidden Valley Teen programs are all based at Hidden Valley Camp, located in Freedom, near the beautiful coastal villages of Belfast and Camden on Maine's famous Penobscot Bay. The camp is secluded in a 300+ acre wooded glen with a private lake one mile long. Unique facilities include a solar-heated swimming pool, large performance spaces, and a magnificent ropes-adventure course.
Each Hidden Valley Teen program is based in a unique historic structure
on the camp's property. In 1972 and 1973, a group of campers (including
Peter's brother) built Hidden Valley Adventures' magnificent log cabin
which sits atop Ledge Mountain over looking the lake. The Blodgett House,
home to HV Community, dates to the latter part of the 19th century and
was once a stop on Theodore Roosevelt's tours of the Maine wilderness.
And HV Alive's sprawling cottage dates to 1847, one of the oldest buildings
in the area. Modern facilities at camp include a full health lodge,
bright sparkling dining hall, and many meeting places and cozy art,
dance and music studios.

"Having had the chance to immerse ourselves in the camp, we discovered a peacefulness there, a calm and contentment that shows itself in the way the campers walk and speak... Erica greeted us with an easy-going, gentle pace which echoed in her voice. There was a richness in her... I think a huge part of the feeling emanating from her was [a result of] the environment and facilities at Hidden Valley; it is clearly one of the most beautiful and well-kept properties I have ever seen." - HVC Parent
"I just wish other "first time parents" could know in advance just how caring and responsible you folks are." HVC Parent
"My child gained an immense amount of confidence and independence. This could not have happened unless the environment had been'prepared' and structured for the children in such a way that they stretch but that they also succeed. This delicate balance is not so easy to find nowadays." Hidden Valley Camp Parent
